Stretching across 2,000 acres of parkland, farmland and woodland, the beautiful Thornham Estate is located in the valley of the River Dove in rural north Suffolk. Thornham has a long and rich history and has belonged to the Henniker-Major family for over 250 years. The family continue to live at Thornham Hall and take a keen interest in the running of the Estate. Today, in addition to the farm, a number of other enterprises operate on the Thornham Estate. These include over 12 miles of well-established and popular permissive walks, known as Thornham Walks, a cafe, a restaurant, a Walled Garden, some fishing lakes, a bed and breakfast, some holiday properties and a campsite. There are also several longer-term rental properties available at Thornham Hall and in the Red House Yard complex.
The Government introduction of a Tier 5 National Lockdown will result in significant increased restrictions for us all. We appreciate the importance of Thornham Walks to our visitors, and most especially for the local community, and The Walks will remain open. However, we have taken measures to restrict the spread of coronavirus, please see our latest statement on coronavirus for details.
Please keep an eye out for further updates on staying safe whilst enjoying Thornham Walks.
Temporary closure of the Forge Cafe We are sad to say goodbye to Jamie and Rachel from the Forge Café at Thornham Walks. We now have the challenge of reopening under new management so that the café can continue to serve visitors to Thornham Walks. We look forward to updating you with further news about the café soon.
