The local community is very important to the Thornham Estate. Our walks are enjoyed by many local families who come to relax in the beautiful countryside and make use of the facilities the Estate has to offer, such as the playground.
Help from local volunteers is crucial to the Estate's ongoing development, the Friends of Thornham Walks obtained the funding for the compost toilets and they are a valued part of the Thornham Walks team, engaging in a range of voluntary activities to help realise the aims and objectives of the Walks and to continue to build upon their success. the Friends of Thornham Walks helped us build the compost toilets and they are a valued part of the Thornham Walks team, engaging in a range of voluntary activities such as helping run events, building infrastructure around the Estate, planting new trees and clearing woodland. If you are interested in becoming a Friend of Thornham Walks, please go to Friends of Thornham Walks.
In addition, we have a monthly volunteer group that undertakes a range of different activities on the Walks, including conservation work, grass cutting and raking, tree management, pond clearance and management, footpath repair, and much more. For more information please see Volunteering.
We are also grateful for the help of the community group Thornham Magna Community Open Spaces (TMCOS), which helped set up the wonderful children's play area.
